Did Akshay Kumar donate money for construction of the Ram Mandir?

There are a number of news that go viral on Social Media, and even if they have been debunked, it is surprising to see how misinformation remains in the system going from one WhatsApp group to another. The final judgement in the Ayodhya dispute was declared by the Supreme Court of India on November 9, 2019. The SC ordered the land to be handed over to trust to build Ram Mandie and 5 acres of land was also to be given to Sunni Waqf Board to build a mosque.

After the results in a month’s time , the news of Akshay Kumar donating money to the construction of Ram Mandir in Ayodhya went viral. The matter was also accompanied with a picture of him along with the Prime Minister of India, Narendra Modi.

However, a simple reverse image search on the image will give the results to links where this image was carried, where the image was used where the actor met the PM for an informal chat.




So the reverse image search shows that the image has been used for various purposes on various websites. There is no mention of Akshay Kumar donating the amount for construction of temple on any news agency.

The last donation the actor made was of Rs 2 crore towards relief work in Assam, Kaziranga National Park in July 2019. He pledged Rs one crore each towards the Assam CM’s Relief Fund and for rescue operation in Kaziranga National Park as the state grappled with flood and torrential rain. Before that he had also made donation to the families of martyrs. Akshay Kumar also contributed Rs 5 crore on bharatkeveer.gov.in. Where he also took to Twitter and shared,
